Lose Weight before the Holidays
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year – whenever the end of the year arrives, these are just some of the events that you need to prepare your stomach for. With endless parties that are filled with food and drinks indulgences, it is no wonder why the after-New Year season is when a lot of people sign up for gym memberships. It’s during this time that they need to shed off the extra pounds that they gained during the holidays.
Why It Pays to Lose Weight before the Holidays
But did you know that it actually makes more sense to lose the extra weight that you have prior to the holidays? Just think about it. Right after New Year, you are bound to get back to your old routine at work. If you gained five to ten pounds over the holidays, it really is quite difficult to find the motivation to lose weight. Even if you include going to the gym in your list of New Year’s resolutions, you may never find the self-discipline to actually stick to it.
On the other hand, when you work on losing weight before the holidays, you are giving your body enough leeway to indulge in a lot of turkey, eggnogs and other sinfully rich desserts which are served on the table during the holidays. There’s absolutely no need for you to pass up on these once-a-year treats, especially if you have worked hard enough prior to the holiday event itself. In fact, the weight that you already lost may be enough to motivate you to keep on going and skip on indulging too much on food and drinks.
How to Have a Trim and Fit Body just in Time for the Holidays
Now, what are you supposed to do in order to have a trim and fit body prior to the holiday season? Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Cut back on your sugary drinks consumption.
If you’re a soda drinker, cutting back on your cola consumption will save you up to 150 calories per day. Increase your water consumption instead so that you can be trim just in time for the holidays.
- Join a marathon for a cause.
Runs or walks for a cause by non-profit organizations are usually held during the months of October and November. Of course, you need to train prior to joining a marathon – so you can actually double up on your workout routine by joining these fun events.
- Steer clear of fad/crash diets.
Avoid these diets like the plague. Since you are one step ahead of everybody anyway, steer clear of fad or crash diets which promise to make you lose this number of pounds in this number of days.
- Eat your biggest meals earlier in the day and don’t skip breakfast.
It’s a great idea to consume your biggest meals earlier in the day so by the time that you are through with your activities for the rest of the afternoon, you would have already burned the calories off.
- Schedule your workouts during the earlier part of the day.
Give your physical activities a boost and schedule your workout sessions during the earliest part of the day. Taking early morning walks will make you feel invigorated, rather than jogging in the afternoon when you are already too tired from the day that you had at work.
As you can see, there are plenty of things that you can do in order to have a trim and fit body prior to the holidays, so that you can have room in your stomach to indulge in those sweet treats and rich foods when the festivities come.
